Parent Volunteers at Meets

The success of our team depends on everyone’s cooperation. It takes approximately 20 to 30 parent volunteers at each meet to keep things running smoothly. Over the course of the season ALL parents will be required to be a timer (not a hard thing to do) or official (must be certified) or work in the concession stand.  If you have a specific area of interest (I would love to time, but please, please, please don't make me work in the concessions stand) speak with one of the parent board members or coaches and let them know!  You know what they say..."the early bird gets the worm".

Timers and Officials

We cannot start the meet until we have the correct number of timers and officials.

Below is the number of volunteers our team needs to supply for both our home and away meets. As you can see, it takes a number of volunteers to help run the meet –

For both the timers and officials, there will be a virtual sign-up for your preference of what position and when you would like to work. If you fail to sign up, you will be assigned a date and time when you are expected to work. It will be your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to work your scheduled time.

Concession Stand

The Concession Stand is organized by a Committee with a Lead Organizer.

The Concessions Stand Committee will give each family a choice of either bringing a food item (to each home meet) or making a one-time monetary donation to "buy-out" of the food donation. Each family will also be asked to supply one case of soda or water or Gatorade (the committee will let you know which type you are assigned). As we get closer to meets, there will be a virtual sign-up sheet of items needed for each meet.

​Age-Group Parents/Captains

A swim team is broken down into 10 age groups:

  • 8 and Under Boys and 8 and Under Girls (4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 year olds)
  • 10 and Under Boys and 10 and Under Girls (9 & 10 year olds)
  • 12 and Under Boys and 12 and Under Girls (11 & 12 year olds)
  • 14 and Under Boys and 14 and Under Girls (13 & 14 year olds)
  • 15 and Over Boys and 15 and over Girls (15, 16, 17 & 18 year olds)

Because our team usually has between 80 and 110 swimmers, with the vast majority in the younger age groups, we desperately need parents to sign up as “Age-Group Parents” for home and away meets. Age-Group Parents services are only needed for home and away meets and consist of corralling and organizing the kids and helping them get to the blocks for their events.

You DO NOT have to commit to being at every single home and away meet to sign-up as an age-group parent. If we get enough volunteers, age-group parents can cover for each other when missing for trips/vacations/work.

If you have an interest, please let one of the coaches know. It is a great way to help the team and get involved with the swimmers!
